Windows Operating Styles

Home windows come in many styles. They can be used in combinations of the same window, such as a bank of casement windows, or you can mix them up, such as a picture window flanked by two casement windows.

Awning Windows

With an awning window, the sash is hinged at the top and swings outward. This allows air to flow into the home with side-to-side ventilation while helping to keep the rain out. This style of window tends to be smaller in size and is often wider than it is tall.

Horizontal Slider

Horizontal sliding windows are a common style that is very easy to use. The sash slides either to the left or right, depending on where you wish to direct the airflow in the room. Sliders are a good option for larger window sizes.

Single Hung Windows

For single-hung windows, the bottom sash slides up and down to open and close the window. The top sash stays in place and allows light to enter the home, but not airflow. Because they open vertically, they save space when the exterior faces a patio or walking path.

Double Hung Windows

With double-hung windows, both the top and bottom sash are operable. Plus, they are easy to clean because the sashes tilt inward, which may be important to you if your window is on a second story. They also offer the same space saving-convenience of a single-hung window.

Casement Windows

Casement windows have a hinge on one side and open outward by rotating a crank-style handle. Because they open like a door, they allow the maximum amount of ventilation into the home. They offer an unobstructed view, similar to a picture window because there is no rail in the center.

Picture Windows

Picture windows provide an unobstructed view of the outside for maximum daylighting. Picture windows are fixed and do not open making them ideal for rooms that need more natural light.

Bay & Bow Windows

Bay and Bow windows provide a dramatic accent to exterior walls for added curb appeal. You’ll also gain interior space in your home for furnishings or a permanent window seat. Bay and Bow windows can be flanked with casement windows or single hung windows for ventilation and additional light.

Radius Windows

Radius windows have an arched top and a rectangular bottom. The curve can be subtle or more rounded like a half-circle. These windows are decorative in style and bring a softness to the room.

Garden Windows

With an awning window, the sash is hinged at the top and swings outward. This allows air to flow into the home with side-to-side ventilation while helping to keep the rain out. This style of window tends to be smaller in size and is often wider than it is tall.

Doors Operating Styles

Elevate any space in your home with the perfect patio doors. From classic sliding doors to bifold glass walls, our beautiful doors deliver protection from the elements, secure transitions and welcoming entryways

Sliding Glass Doors

Engineered to slide along a narrow track, these doors glide gracefully and effortlessly. This feature is especially beneficial for those homeowners who intend on aging in place.

Sliding glass doors bring a good deal of sunlight into the home. This added sunlight has health benefits and can help lower energy costs.

Sliding glass doors have the option for larger panel sizes for great views outside. These views can enrich the homeowner’s experience and increase the home’s resale value.

Swinging Patio Doors

French doors have been prized for centuries for their beauty. Offering numerous types of grid patterns and glass options, swing doors can add instant charm to your home.

Out-swing doors that open to a deck, patio, or balcony can merge the interior and exterior of a home by keeping them open when entertaining.

Swing doors are ideal for home offices or studies as they allow privacy while still being able to view the adjacent space.

Pocket Glass Walls

Aluminum pocket doors are “thermally broken,” which means the door frame and glass contain an insulating strip that helps your home maintain a consistent temperature for energy efficiency.

When pocket doors are fully open, there’s no evidence that there was a barrier between the interior and exterior. This look truly captures the essence of “bringing the outside in.”

The narrow frame profile creates a modern look and even sightlines offer a beautiful design aesthetic you’ll be proud to display in your home.

Bi-Fold Glass Walls

The Thermally Broken Aluminum design provides your home with the year-round, energy efficient comfort you’re looking for.

Bringing in great amounts of natural light and fresh air, bi-fold doors have a natural ability to get attention. Whether open or closed, these doors will turn heads.

Available in standard or a custom sizes, aluminum bi-fold doors are strong and built to last.

Stacking Glass Walls

Beauty coupled with energy performance, today’s stacking doors boast energy-efficient features, like Low-E coatings and gas fills.

The modern design and narrow frames offer a contemporary style to create the look you’ve always wanted.

Enjoy indoor / outdoor living and get ready to entertain as this door invites people to linger inside and out.

Frame Materials

From the insulated glass to the hardware, each component of a window is encapsulated within the frame. A well-crafted frame begins with high-grade materials that are transformed into windows through a strict quality control process. We select frame materials with purpose and stand behind every finished product to provide long-lasting performance.

Frame Material - Wood

Wood

Wood has natural warmth, tactile appeal, and design versatility. Wood frames have adorned homes for centuries – from historic estates to modern custom builds. Wood exhibits an authentic texture and grain that can be stained, painted, or left natural.

Frame Material - Aluminium-Wood

Aluminium

Aluminium / wood frames are ideal engineering solution due to the combination of two materials: aluminum (outside) and wood (inside). Aluminum reliably protects wood from all weather influences (rain, hail, scorching sun), while wood creates a cozy atmosphere in the house.

Frame Material - Fiberglass

Fiberglass

Fiberglass is a composite material composed of fine glass fibers and polymer resin. Thin strands of glass woven or matted together to form a fabric-like substrate. A binding agent encapsulates the glass fibers, creating a solid, rigid structure once it cures.

Frame Material - Vinyl

Vinyl

Vinyl is a synthetic polymer derived primarily from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. Modern vinyl formulations may also include additives like impact modifiers and UV stabilizers, which make it stronger, more flexible, and resistant to environmental stresses.
